This list includes The 5 Best Books For College Graduates. These books are the only thing better than cold hard cash for recent grads.
I have devoured so many self-help books in the past year. These few were the most impactful to me as a recent college graduate who immediately entered the workforce. Many valuable lessons can take years of experience to learn that our degrees do not teach us. These five books for recent graduates are an excellent start for anyone on the journey of independence, finding financial wellness, setting healthy boundaries with work, and general “adulting.” These books for college graduates could also make a great gift guide for the grads in your life.
The 5 Best Books For College Graduates:
1.) Refinery 29’s Money Diaries by Lindsey Stanberry
To break down the stigma of talking about money, Lindsey Stanberry has created an engaging and practical guide to personal finance. In Refinery29’s Money Diaries, readers are taught practical approaches to financial topics such as student debt, negotiating a raise, emergency funds, 401K, and how to find joy in saving. After receiving this glimpse into other women’s spending habits, you will be forever curious about the way we approach money. Money Diaries design features bright yellow accents and imagery to create a positive reading experience. Lindsey’s voice is conversational, making it feel like you are getting advice from a financially savvy older sister or friend rather than reading an accounting textbook. I have reached for this book to refer to her approach on multiple occasions, including the end of my student loan grace period, after accepting my first job offer, and when opening my first savings account.
2.) Essentialism by Greg McKeown
Essentialism by Greg Mckeown teaches readers how to get more done while doing less. A principle anyone can benefit from in today’s fast-paced world full of distraction. Essentialism is an approach for burnt-out individuals who have felt like they are busy but failing to produce quality work. Mckeown teaches essential lessons on how to set boundaries for your own time, how to be an effective leader, and become a master of your respective trade.
This book found me at a perfect time when I was completely burnt out from my career and blaming everyone but myself for how I got to that point. The essentialist approach is about taking accountability for the projects you say yes to, the way you spend your time, and ultimately your success. I am recommending this book as a must-read for recent graduates so that you may enter the workforce empowered rather than spreading yourself too thin by saying yes to everything that comes your way.
3.) The Subtle Art of Not Giving A #@%! by Mark Manson
Mark Manson will have you laugh out loud as you read his book on how to approach life with more freedom to fail, authenticity, and honestly. Mark Manson teaches that failure and pain are natural parts of life. Faking positivity does not get you far. This book serves a great lesson in accountability for one’s happiness. Thank you, Mark, for your counter-intuitive approach for living well and the many laughs I enjoyed while reading. To purchase, click here.

Reading this book was my first step to cutting back on social media and reclaiming what matters most in life.
